Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli, a symbol of wisdom and truth, spirit and vision, gods and power. It represents the universal truth. The name derives from the Latin word “lapis” for stone and the Persian word “lazhuward”, which means blue. Genuine Lapis Lazuli has a distinctive deep blue saturation and often shimmers with flecks of golden Pyrite, as it is formed by several minerals: Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite.
Lapis Lazuli was one of the first spiritual stones, which was valued by priest, healers and royalty to increase wisdom, power and the inner vision. It can be traced back to the ancient Egypt, around 4000 BC, where Lapis Lazuli was considered to have immortal powers and that it opened the gate to the spirit world and infinite possibilities of imagination. It was used in jewellery and found buried with Egyptian Kings and in the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun. Fine grounded lapis lazuli was also used as eye shadow and to dye clothing for priests and royal families.
Considered a stone of truth, lapis lazuli promotes self-awareness and opens us up to our inner truth and encourages us to accept it. It is an excellent stone for all professions that require the stimulation of wisdom, good judgement, and creativity, such as executive, psychologists, journalists, lawyers, writers, inventors, etc. It stimulates the desire for knowledge and truth.
It is associated to the Third Eye and the Throat Chakra. The Throat Chakra is considered as the voice of the body which allows the energy form the other chakras to be expressed. If it’s unbalanced or blocked it can affect the health of the other chakras. When our Throat Chakra is in balance, energy can flow freely within the body and allows free expression. The Third Eye on the other hand, is our window to self-awareness. When then Third Eye Chakra is in balance, it allows us to clearly see and understand things and opens us to new ideas and dreams.
Lapis Lazuli is said to be a visionary stone, which makes it a great meditation stone. In ancient Egypt it was believed that the gold pyrite flecks symbolized the stars and that meditating with lapis lazuli would encourage supernatural forces to change and improve their lives. Some even say that meditating with this stone allows you to communicate with ancestors from past lives.
Lapis Lazuli is also used to protect from the Evil Eye. Use it on an altar, for meditation or wear it as earrings or necklace, close to the neck and the throat and third eye chakra.
